Catia Chien is a painter and picture book artist.  Her first book she illustrated, The Sea Serpent and Me by Dashka Slater (HMH), won a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. She followed it with A Boy and a Jaguar by Alan Rabinowitz (HMH), an ALA notable book and winner of the Schneider Family Book Award. She also illustrated four animated children’s e-books with Ogilvy & Mather called Poems from the Womb.  Her latest title, Things to Do by Elaine Magliaro (Chronicle), was released in February 2017. Catia also creates visual development art  for feature animation and has shown her work in galleries all over the world including Brazil, Japan, China and Italy.
